Bois Fort Band of Chippewa – Nett Lake and Tower, Minnesota
Over the past 10 years, CR-BPS has been hired by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa to design and oversee the construction of a variety of housing facilities (i.e., New Moon Project and Bois Forte Tax Credit Housing Project) in Nett Lake and Tower, Minnesota. Funded by the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA), each housing facility was required to meet an acceptable level of sustainability at the time that construction took place. These standards included Minnesota Overlay and Guide to the 2015 Enterprise Green Communities Criteria. One of the many Green Communities goals was to optimize the energy performance of the buildings and exceed the stated Home Energy Rating System (HERS) standard by 5%. CR-BPS test verified that this standard was achieved; the actual HERS rating was 30% lower than the mandated 56 Energy Star HERS rating coming in at HERS 39.
