POSITION SUMMARY

CR-BPS is seeking a Building Science Technician to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and expanding CR-BPS’s Building Science services through Energy Analysis & Commissioning and Forensics/Diagnostics. This role will be customized to suit the experience of the selected candidate, so while the minimum requirements are listed those with additional experience are still encouraged to apply. This position offers tremendous growth opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

Forensics/Diagnostics

    • Review of project documents
    • Evaluation of design concept
    • Determination of service history
    • Inspection
    • Investigative testing
    • Analysis
    • Report generation

Energy Analysis & Commissioning

    • Design document review
    • Construction administration
    • Air and water performance testing
    • Field observation
    • Occupancy and post-occupancy commissioning
    • Testing Monitoring and Verification
    • Client relationship management with new and existing clients

PREFERRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s, Associates, or Technical degree in Building Science, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
  • Additional Certifications (or interest in attaining):
    • HERS Rater
    • BECx (Building Envelope Commissioner)
    • LEED Accredited Professional
    • Energy Star Multifamily New Construction Rater

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in the building science, architectural, or construction industry OR
    education relating to those fields
  • Ability to learn CAD Software (REVIT, Sketchup) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • An interest in the science behind what makes buildings work

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ Years of working in the building science, architectural, or construction industry
  • Proficient ability in CAD software (REVIT, Sketchup) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Successful experience working with/for local, state, and/or federal governments

OFFICE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must work from, manage, and operate a personal office in Minnesota or Wisconsin
  • Work collaboratively with a remote team in Minnesota and Wisconsin
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone/web/email/video conference for meetings, brainstorm sessions, project collaboration, project deliverables, mentorship, and check-ins with clients and team.
  • Must have access to:
    • A reliable motor vehicle
    • A PC computer that is a laptop/portable and is a 2020 or later model with large hard drive storage
    • Cell phone with high-quality reception
    • High-speed internet
    • Printer/Scanner/Copier
